North Media completes the acquisition of technology for grid balancing

Investor News

31 August 2026

As announced in Company Announcement no. 14/2026, North Media has completed the acquisition of the software platform BEAM, a digital tool for electricity grid balancing.

For several years, North Media has worked systematically to reduce its climate footprint and actively contribute to the societal objective of establishing and operating renewable energy sources also capable of supporting the continuous balancing of the electricity grid.

Since 2022, North Media has achieved a significant degree of self-sufficiency in meeting the Group’s electricity requirements. This has been accomplished through the installation of extensive solar panel and battery systems at FK Distribution’s packaging facilities in Tilst and Taastrup.

The BEAM software platform will enable households, housing associations and businesses with solar panels, heat pumps, hot-water storage tanks or batteries in making these assets available to Energinet, thereby strengthening their ability to maintain a continuous balance in the electricity grid.

In addition to reducing their electricity bills, owners of solar panels, heat pumps and other eligible assets will be able to generate income from their investments in energy assets by connecting to the BEAM software platform.

Furthermore, by using BEAM software, the broad portfolio of energy assets targeted by the BEAM software will help increase flexibility in the electricity grid. This represents an additional commercial opportunity that is not currently being fully utilised by the market.

North Media will continue to develop the BEAM technology with the ambition of making it the market-leading solution for this purpose.

On commercial terms, North Media aims to contribute to meeting energy demand to the greatest extent possible through renewable energy generated by businesses, housing associations and private households that may produce surplus electricity at various times of the day from the energy assets in which they have invested.

As stated in the interim report for Q2 2026, the impact on earnings from BEAM is recognised under unallocated Group income/costs and is expected to amount to a loss of DKK 5 million in 2026.
