Markku on tehnyt pitkän uran kansainvälisen myynnin, markkinoinnin ja teollisuuden johtotehtävissä Agcolla ja LLP Farm Machinery Group Oy:n toimitusjohtajana. Vuonna 1960 perustetulla Keslalla on tuotantolaitokset Joensuussa, Kesälahdella ja Ilomantsissa sekä myyntiyhtiö Appenweierissa, Saksassa. Keslan palveluksessa on noin 250 henkeä.
