Investam-HK:S&P 500 and Nasdaq hits new fresh record high; Dow slid after 4-days winning streak
Nasdaq together with S&P 500 has yet again ended today’s session hitting another intraday record high. The optimism drives investors to not lose hope with Federal Reserve and the government as the economy recovers from the coronavirus pandemic.
Tech giants contributed big on how Nasdaq jumps up its gain today. Shares from Facebook, Microsoft and Amazon all ended up higher, while Apple quite fell almost 1%.
Treasuries were up same goes with Gas futures while Gold continues to fall down marking its 5th day loss.
Here are the main movements in the Global Stock Market this Tuesday;
Stocks
– S&P 500 set another fresh new high after gaining 12.39 points or 0.36% to 3,443.67 after market ended this Tuesday.
– The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell around 60.02 points or 0.21% to 28,248.68.
– Nasdaq Composite advanced about 86.75 points or 0.76% to 11,466.47, recording new all-time high to date.
– The Stoxx Europe 600 Index dipped 0.3% to 369.75.
Bonds
– The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note has gained almost 4 basis points to 0.695%, its highest yet in a week.
– The yield on the 30-year Treasury bond rebounded a bit to 1.410%.
– Germany’s 10-year yield has increased six basis points to -0.43.
– Britain’s 10-year yield jumps up with five basis points to 0.263.
Commodities
– Gold fell again for the 5th day losing almost around 1 basis point or 0.04% to $1,928.96 an ounce.
– Silver also dipped and is down by 0.11 point or 0.43% to $26.48 an ounce.
– West Texas Intermediate crude has increased almost 2% to $43.35 per barrel.
– Brent crude rose quite big with 1.62% gain to $45.86 per barrel.
Currencies
– US Dollar Currency Index has no to little change to $93.12 per share.
– The euro rose about 0.4% to $1.1832.
– The Japanese yen fell short around 0.4% to 106.40 per dollar.
