Höjt belopp för insättningsgarantinRiksgälden har beslutat att höja det högsta ersättningsbeloppet för insättningsgarantin till 1 050 000 kronor. Förändringen träder i kraft den 1 januari 2021.Staten ersätter kapital och ränta upp till ett visst belopp per person och institut om ett institut till exempel går i konkurs. Fram till den 1 januari är det högsta ersättningsbeloppet 950 000 kronor per person och institut. Höjningen av beloppet till 1 050 000 kronor är en anpassning till svenska kronor av ett EU-direktiv som bestämmer att ersättningsbeloppet ska motsvara 100 000 euro.– Insättningsgarantin är ett viktigt konsumentskydd. Den minskar risken för att många ska vilja ta ut sina pengar samtidigt och det bidrar till finansiell stabilitet, säger Karolina Holmberg, avdelningschef på Riksgälden.  Beloppet ses över vart femte årEnligt EU-direktivet ska beloppet för insättningsgarantin kontrolleras mot den lokala valutakursen vart femte år och justeras om avvikelsen är för stor. Denna justering mellan euro och svenska kronor har nu genomförts. Från och med den 1 januari ska det högsta ersättningsbeloppet uppgå till 1 050 000 kronor.Insättningsgarantin finansieras genom avgifter från de anslutna bankerna och instituten som placeras i en fond.
