Corbion boekte in de eerste negen maanden van 2020 een omzet van € 741,2 miljoen, een toename van 1,7% als gevolg van een autonome groei van de netto-omzet met 4,4%, deels geneutraliseerd door valuta-effecten. De autonome groei van de netto-omzet bij de kernactiviteiten was 5,8%. De aangepaste EBITDA nam in de eerste negen maanden autonoom toe met 17,3% tot € 128,4 miljoen dankzij verbeteringen in alle bedrijfssegmenten.
“Na een volatiel en lastig te navigeren eerste halfjaar liet het derde kwartaal een afnemende invloed van de COVID-19 pandemie zien. Het derde kwartaal liet een sterke organische groei zien in onze kernactiviteiten. Ik ben daarom trots op de goede prestaties van onze mensen die onder voortdurende uitdagende omstandigheden hun werk doen. Sustainable Food Solutions groeit autonoom sterker dan de markt nu de vraag naar onze natuurlijke conserveringsoplossingen verder aantrekt. Lactic Acid & Specialties presteert nog altijd goed in alle segmenten met uitzondering van medische biopolymeren, die de negatieve impact ondervonden van uitgestelde electieve chirurgische ingrepen. Bij Incubator zijn we voorzichtig optimistisch na herziening van onze marktbenadering met betrekking tot het algen gebaseerd product omega-3 voor de aquacultuursector. We zijn inmiddels overgegaan tot het opschalen van onze nieuw geïnstalleerde melkzuurcapaciteit in Thailand na in juni het debottlenecking-project te hebben afgerond. Bovendien breiden we ons melkzuurinvesteringsprogramma verder uit door nog meer knelpunten weg te nemen.
