STOCKHOLM, Sept. 11, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — “BEYOND THE EXTREME – An Arctic Night of Digital Art & Electronic Music,” hosted by Perfect World Digital Art, officially opened at ICEBAR by ICEHOTEL in Stockholm. Set in a fully immersive -5°C ice environment, the event brought together Chinese intangible cultural heritage (ICH), esports, and cutting-edge Al technology, creating an audiovisual experience that transcended cultural, geographical, and temporal boundaries.

The event received special support from vrch.io, MirroS, and the organizing committee of the Perfect World Campus Art Design Award. As a key international cultural exchange initiative by Perfect World Digital Art, the event used the Arctic ice setting as a bridge between Nordic landscapes and Eastern cultural heritage. Traditional music from different regions of China, including Zhuang folk singing and Shaanxi Qinqiang opera, was reinterpreted through the lens of esports and AI. The evening’s centerpiece was a live ICH × Esports × AI audiovisual performance created by Perfect World Digital Art in collaboration with vrch.io. Drawing on Zhuang Laige, Mashan Zhuang three-part folk singing, the distinctive Zhuang wind instrument bóliè, and the powerful vocal tradition of Shaanxi Qinqiang opera, the performance preserved the authentic musical textures and cultural essence of these traditions while introducing the pioneering spirit of esports. Real-time visuals generated through vrch.io’s Agentic VJ system evolved dynamically with the music, merging sound, light, and space within the ice environment.

The event also featured a cross-cultural digital visual exhibition supported by MirroS, a partner of the Perfect World Campus Art Design Award. Built with the MirroS World Model, the short films combined Nordic landscapes with elements of traditional Chinese culture through a game-inspired, first-person journey from the Nordic environment toward the cultural landscapes of the East.

A representative of Perfect World Digital Art said the event explored new contemporary pathways for bringing traditional culture to international audiences through digital technology. Looking ahead, the team will continue to use digital art to build bridges between Eastern and Western cultures and bring Chinese cultural content to global audiences in increasingly technological and contemporary forms.
