OSL Group Partners with Waka to Power Stablecoin Settlement for Emerging Market Trade

  • OSL will integrate stablecoin-to-USD fiat conversion and USD payout capability into Waka’s settlement infrastructure.
  • The partnership broadens OSL’s stablecoin payment ecosystem across emerging markets, especially in Africa-Global trade corridors.

SINGAPORE and HONG KONG, Sept. 09, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE)OSL Group (HKEX:863) (OSL), a global stablecoin payment and trading platform, today announced a partnership with Waka, a payments platform connecting emerging-market liquidity with global settlement. Under the collaboration, OSL’s institutional stablecoin infrastructure — providing stablecoin-to-USD fiat conversion and USD payout — is now integrated into Waka’s settlement infrastructure serving Africa–global trade corridors.

The partnership broadens OSL’s stablecoin payment ecosystem across emerging markets by bringing regulated USD liquidity to trade corridors long underserved by traditional banking rails. The two companies are already exploring additional use cases across African markets and cross-border settlement.

Africa’s cross-border trade is growing fast, but the rails beneath it haven’t kept pace. Businesses moving value between African markets and the rest of the world still contend with fragmented liquidity, slow correspondent banking and unpredictable settlement.

The OSL–Waka collaboration addresses these pain points directly: local market access, regulated stablecoin conversion and USD delivery — fiat on both ends, digital speed in the middle. It also reflects a broader shift in global payments, as regulated stablecoin infrastructure becomes the connective tissue between emerging-market liquidity and institutional settlement networks.

Far from a theoretical concept, the business case is already backed by clear market data. According to a recent EY-Parthenon survey, 41% of organizations that have used stablecoins report cost savings of greater than 10%, driven primarily by efficiencies in cross-border payments — and the leading use cases are exactly the flows this collaboration serves: paying suppliers and accepting business payments across borders.

Financial institutions surveyed also expect stablecoins to carry 5% to 10% of global payment value by 2030, representing US$2.1 trillion to US$4.2 trillion. With Boston Consulting Group projecting Africa to be the world’s fastest-growing fintech market this decade, it is precisely this shift OSL and Waka are built to power.

April Long, Founder & CEO of Waka, said, “Waka is building stablecoin-powered settlement infrastructure that connects Africa’s financial corridors with the rest of the world. Our partnership with OSL adds institutional-grade stablecoin and fiat conversion capabilities across major currencies, strengthening the liquidity, reach and resilience of our global settlement network.”

Kevin Cui, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of OSL Group, said, “Africa’s trade routes with Asia are exactly where better payment infrastructure changes lives and businesses the fastest. This collaboration with Waka shows OSL’s strength and capability in providing a seamless infrastructure service connecting fiat and stablecoins, deepening our presence in Africa and the wider market.”
